Trusted valuation communities - VBG
How can online reviews become more reliable - and what role do consumers play in this? The research project Trustworthy Rating Communities (VBG) (2024 - 2025) is dedicated to precisely these questions.
The aim of the project is to promote trustworthy review communities by developing suitable structures and mechanisms. In this way, user ratings are to be strengthened and reliable, fair and valuable consumer information made possible - with the active participation of consumers.
The focus here is on the idea of actively involving users in the review process and creating structures that strengthen both the reliability of the information and participation. New approaches to rating design and moderation will be developed and tested on the basis of scientific findings.
The project ties in with the research project Infoteilhabe: Information and participation through user ratings - status quo & development potential. The project investigated how user ratings currently work, where their strengths and weaknesses lie and what potential for development exists.
VBG is now going one step further and developing concrete strategies to intelligently strengthen the role of consumers in the digital review ecosystem - with the aim of creating a more trustworthy and transparent information base for consumers.
