Bachelor programs

If you would like to apply for a Bachelor's degree program at Pforzheim University, you need at least a valid university entrance qualification (HZB).

There are different admission requirements depending on which applicant target group you belong to.

In addition to our restricted-admission degree programs, there are also Bachelor's degree programs in the Faculty of Engineering that are admission-free, i.e. no selection procedures are carried out for the places to be allocated.

In addition, there are special requirements for some degree courses, such as a pre-study internship or language skills.

If you were already enrolled at a university of applied sciences in the same degree program, enrollment is only possible if you are still entitled to take examinations for this degree program; this must be proven by a certificate of no objection when enrolling

Admission requirement for

There are a number of university entrance qualifications.

A Level

The qualification for a university course is proven by the "Abitur", i.e. a highschool graduation (general higher education entrance qualification). This entitles you to study all subjects offered at universities or other higher education institutions.

Subject-specific higher education entrance qualification

The subject-specific higher education entrance qualification (with proof of a foreign language) entitles the holder to study all courses of study at universities of applied sciences (formerly universities of applied sciences) and to study certain courses of study at other universities in Baden-Württemberg, depending on the type of school at which it was obtained.

Advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife)

The Fachhochschulreife entitles the holder to study at universities of applied sciences (formerly universities of applied sciences), although some programs require at least a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification.

Specifics

If you have a higher education entrance qualification certificate that is only valid in certain federal states or if you are a German citizen with a foreign educational qualification, you will need a certificate of equivalence or recognition of your school-leaving certificate stating your average grade from the Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart.

A higher education entrance qualification obtained at a German school abroad also counts as a German higher education entrance qualification. The same applies to the "European high school diploma".

Non-EU citizens with a foreign higher education entrance qualification who apply for admission to the first semester

Foreign and stateless prospective students with a higher education entrance qualification obtained abroad (except EU nationals) must submit proof of the equivalence of the foreign higher education entrance qualification with the admission requirements for German universities of applied sciences, including calculation of the average grade, when applying to study.

You can request this proof from the International Office of Pforzheim University.

The application for recognition must be submitted to the International Office of Pforzheim University by May 31st for the winter semester or by November 30th for the summer semester at the latest.

Alternatively, you can also submit the proof to the

Studienkolleg Konstanz
Brauneggerstr. 55
78462 Konstanz,

to apply. Please read the information on the Studienkolleg homepage www.studienkolleg.htwg-konstanz.de carefully before applying for certificate recognition at the Studienkolleg in Konstanz. The application for certificate recognition at the Studienkolleg must be submitted by the deadline of May 1st for the winter semester and November 1st for the summer semester. After these deadlines, the Studienkolleg will only process applications with regard to applications for the following semester.

Exceptions: Only if the application is accompanied by a certificate of the assessment test or DSH-2, DSH-3 or TestDaF (4.0), telc C1 Hochschule or DSD II (B2 or C1 is not sufficient!), the application can be submitted to the Studienkolleg even after the deadlines mentioned.

If you would like to apply for a degree program in Business Administration (with the exception of Business Administration/International Business and BSBA/Digital Enterprise Management), Industrial Engineering or Business Law, please note the following:

Admission is based on the average grade of the university entrance qualification (according to the certificate of the Studienkolleg Konstanz) and the result of a selection interview.

The selection interview is conducted in German and examines the following criteria

    Motivation to study
    Analytical thinking
    Argumentation skills
    B1 level in English language

The interview will be conducted in person at Pforzheim University or, in exceptional cases, by telephone by prior arrangement.

The application for participation in the selection interview must be submitted

  •     for the winter semester by June 15th
  •     for the summer semester by 1st December (cut-off deadlines).

The selection interviews take place from June 15th to July 5th (for the winter semester) or from December 1st to December 20th (for the summer semester).

In the selection procedure, the result of the selection interview together with the average grade of the university entrance qualification form the overall grade. Both criteria are weighted 50 percent each. For applicants who did not take part in the selection interview, a grade of 5.0 is used as the basis for the result of the selection interview.

We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the selection interviews for:
