Um sich für einen Bachelor-Studiengang an der Hochschule Pforzheim zu bewerben, benötigt man mindestens eine gültige Hochschulzugangsberechtigung (HZB).
Allgemeine Hochschulreife (Abitur)
Die Qualifikation für einen universitären Studiengang wird durch das Abitur, das heißt ein Zeugnis der Hochschulreife (allgemeine Hochschulreife) nachgewiesen. Sie berechtigt zum Studium an Universitäten und Hochschulen.
Fachgebundene Hochschulreife
Die fachgebundene Hochschulreife (mit Nachweis einer Fremdsprache) berechtigt je nach Schulart, an dem sie erworben wird, zum Studium aller Studiengänge an Hochschulen für angewandte Wissenschaften und zum Studium bestimmter Studiengänge an anderen Hochschulen in Baden-Württemberg.
Fachhochschulreife
Die Fachhochschulreife berechtigt zum Studium an Hochschulen für angewandte Wissenschaften (ehemals Fachhochschulen), wobei einige Fachhochschulstudiengänge mindestens die fachgebundene Hochschulreife voraussetzen.
Besonderheiten
- Wer eine Hochschulzugangsberechtigung besitzt, die nur in bestimmten Bundesländern gültig ist oder als Deutsche/r eine ausländische Hochschulzugangsberechtigung besitzt, benötigt eine Bescheinigung über die Gleichwertigkeit bzw. Anerkennung des Schulabschlusses mit Angabe der Durchschnittsnote vom Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart.
- Auch eine Hochschulzugangsberechtigung, die an einer deutschen Schule im Ausland erworben wurde, gilt als deutsche Hochschulzugangsberechtigung. Gleiches gilt für das Europäische Abitur.
Admission to the 1st semester
Foreign and stateless prospective students with a higher education entrance qualification obtained abroad (except EU nationals) who apply for admission in the first semester must submit proof of the equivalence of their foreign higher education entrance qualification with the admission requirements for German universities of applied sciences, including the calculation of the average grade, with their application.

Before applying for certificate recognition at the Studienkolleg in Konstanz, you should read the information on the Studienkolleg's homepage www.studienkolleg.htwg-konstanz.de carefully. The application for certificate recognition must be submitted by the deadline of 1 May for the winter semester and 1 November for the summer semester. After these deadlines, the Studienkolleg will only process applications with regard to applications for the following semester.
Exceptions: Only if the application is accompanied by a certificate of the assessment test or DSH-2, DSH-3 or TestDaF (4.0), telc C1 Hochschule or DSD II (B2 or C1 is not sufficient!) can the application be submitted to the Studienkolleg after the deadlines mentioned.
If you would like to apply for a degree programme in Business Administration (BWL), Industrial Engineering or Business Law, please note the following:
Admission is based on the average grade of the university entrance qualification (as certified by the Studienkolleg Konstanz) and the result of a selection interview.
The selection interview is conducted in German and examines the following criteria
- Motivation to study
- Analytical thinking
- Argumentation skills
- B1 level in English
The interview will be conducted in person at Pforzheim University or, in exceptional cases, by telephone by prior arrangement.
The application for participation in the selection interview must
- for the winter semester by 15 June
- for the summer semester by 01 December
for the summer semester (cut-off deadlines).
In the selection procedure, the result of the selection interview together with the average grade of the university entrance qualification form the overall grade. Both criteria are weighted at 50% each. For applicants who did not take part in the selection interview, the result of the selection interview is given a grade of 5.0.

International prospective students from EU countries (and European countries associated with the EU) submit their certificates directly to Pforzheim University together with their application for the degree programme. The certificates will be checked by the International Office of Pforzheim University.

Professionally qualified persons with a master craftsman's examination or equivalent further training
Professionally qualified persons who have successfully completed the master craftsman's examination, advanced vocational training equivalent to the master craftsman's examination in the learned profession in accordance with the Vocational Training Act, the Crafts Code or another public law regulation or a technical school within the meaning of § 14 of the Education Act have access to study at a university in Baden-Württemberg if they provide proof of a counselling interview at a university. Proof of the counselling interview is also recognised at other universities in Baden-Württemberg.
Please complete our registration form for the counselling interview so that we can refer you to the right contact person. During the counselling session, you will be shown what to expect during your studies, what prerequisites you should bring with you and what preparation options are available. There is also room for your own questions. The interview will not be assessed in any way and has no influence on possible admission to the degree programme.
Important: Please register for the counselling interview in good time so that an appointment can be made. Proof of the interview must be uploaded with the application documents by the deadline (winter semester: 15 July, summer semester: 15 January).
Professionally qualified persons without a master craftsman's examination or equivalent further training
Professionally qualified persons who have at least two years of training and at least three years of professional experience have access to study at a university in Baden-Württemberg if
- they provide proof of a counselling interview at a university
- the desired degree programme corresponds to their training/professional experience
- they successfully pass the aptitude test in Konstanz.
Applications for professionally qualified applicants without a master craftsman's certificate or equivalent further training must be submitted by 1 March at the latest.
If you are admitted to the aptitude test, you will have to pay €200 towards your own costs (travelling expenses will not be reimbursed).

Foreign language skills German applicants
Faculty of Engineering
For the Industrial Engineering and Management degree programmes, students should have a B2 level of English. However, this is not an admission requirement.
Business School
For the BBA / Digital Business Management, BBA / International Business and BBA / International Marketing degree programmes, knowledge of English at level B2 is required as an admission requirement. For the BBA / International Business degree programme, prior knowledge of French or Spanish at level B1 is also required.
For all other degree programmes in the Business School, students should have a B2 level of English. However, this is not an admission requirement.
German language skills for international students
For all German bachelor's programmes you need one of the following certificates to proof your knowledge of the German language:
Deutsches Sprachdiplom (Level II) of the Kultusministerkonferenz, DSH examination (DSH 2+3), TestDaF (min. TDN 4.0), telc C1 Hochschule-Zertifikat or Goethe Zertifikat C2.
A three-month (twelve-month in the Jewellery degree programme) subject-related pre-study internship is required for all degree programmes at the School of Design (with the exception of the Visual Communication degree programme).
In addition to the internship, proof of artistic aptitude is required to apply for all degree programmes at the School of Design. This is determined as part of an aptitude test at Pforzheim University within the School of Design: Pforzheim University - Step 2: Take the aptitude test
Master's programmes
