The conference on September 26/27 in Karlsruhe dealt intensively with the various instruments of consumer law enforcement - from collective redress to antitrust law and special regulatory enforcement as well as the responsibilities of general commercial and administrative authorities, the contribution of consumer dispute resolution bodies and difficulties in international law enforcement. In view of new instruments (in particular the model declaratory action and the new instruments of the Federal Cartel Office), legal policy proposals (e.g. with regard to collective redress at European level) and pending legal policy changes (e.g. with regard to the CPC Regulation/cross-border prosecution in the EU, further possible competences of the antitrust authorities, consumer protection responsibilities of the Federal Office for Information Security BSI), strengths and in particular weaknesses of consumer law enforcement were identified and possibilities for closing these were discussed.
