The Pforzheim University friends associations
Pforzheim University is supported by two associations:
Förderer und Alumni der Pforzheim University e.V. (freely translated as supporters and alumni of Pforzheim University, FAV for short) supports the Business School and Law as well as the School of Engineering; the Förderverein DesignPF e.V. (friends association design) supports the School of Design. Both associations are recognized as non-profit organisations. Both private individuals (sponsors, alumni, employees and students of the university) and companies can become members.
Pforzheim University, in particular the Business School and the School of Engineering, are supported in many ways by the Förderer und Alumni der Pforzheim University e.V. (FAV for short). The association has been in existence for over 50 years and is recognized as a non-profit organisation. Both private individuals (sponsors, alumni, employees and students of the university) and companies can become members of the FAV.
The FAV focuses on four main areas:
- Promoting the quality of research and teaching, e.g. by equipping laboratories, institutes, learning and study centers or by promoting accreditation.
- Promoting student initiatives, such as the career and contact platform "Campus X", which organizes a biannual company fair at the university, or the "Rennschmiede", which competes internationally with a self-built car in formula student races.
- Promoting networking between alumni, students and companies, e.g. the school's alumni work and events for exchange of information and experience.
- Supporting individuals, e.g. students with children, scholarship holders, those interested in start-ups or through unbureaucratic help in emergencies.

Annual donation
Individuals can support DesignPF from a contribution of 25,-€/year, companies and institutions from 40,-€/year. For graduates of our School, membership is free for the first two years after graduation.
Membership entitles you to exclusive invitations: For example, during the Werkschau Summer Exhibition in July 2023, members were invited to a reception at the Gasometer and a tour of the Pergamon Panorama, followed by a completely sold-out fashion show at the Ice Sports Center.
The next invitation to a members’ gathering will be issued as part of the 2027 Summer Exhibition to mark the university’s 150th anniversary.
