(07231) 28-6283Ulrike Eidel is Professor of Accounting and Controlling at Pforzheim University. After studying business administration at Saarland University in Saarbrücken and the Ecole de Management in Lyon, Ulrike Eidel worked for several years at the Institut für Wirtschaftsprüfung at Saarland University. There, she supervised the areas of financial statement analysis, international accounting, and corporate evaluation. In addition, she participated in diverse extra-university consulting projects, including expert company appraisals and seminars for key accounting managers and financial analysts at major German banks. In addition, as part of a research project, she spent several months as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She obtained her doctoral degree from Saarland University with her dissertation on “Modern Methods of Corporate Evaluation and Performance Measurement”. From 1999 to 2002, she worked at a mid-sized accounting and tax consultancy firm, where, in addition to engaging in the core activities of accounting and tax consulting, she supervised the area of company evaluation. As part of a joint venture with a global French audit firm, she managed international projects.
Since 2002, she has been teaching in the study program Controlling, Finance and Accounting at Pforzheim University, specializing in the areas of group accounting, national and international accounting, corporate and financial analysis, behavioral finance, conduct of negotiations and conflict management. After directing the Master‘s program International Finance and Accounting for several semesters, and actively participating in the Faculty Council, she has assumed responsibility for supervising trainees in the Bachelor‘s program and since 2020 she is program director of the bachelor study program Controlling, Finance and Accounting.
In her research and teaching, Ulrike Eidel focuses on the analysis of external financial accounting of medium-sized and capital market-oriented companies, the implementation of legal accounting requirements in German corporate practice, as well as the interpretation of financial reporting standards.
Depending on the specific project in question, her research aims to contribute to the further development of financial reporting in line with its purpose and practice, and to provide recommendations with regard to behavioral science findings in the areas of accounting, auditing and corporate governance.
Since both executives and young professionals need — in addition to their professional expertise — skills in negotiation and conflict management in their daily work, Ulrike Eidel has focused increasingly on these topics since being involved in the university’s working group “Conflict Management”. Working together with Barbara Tybusseck, this has resulted in an interdisciplinary publication project which aims to summarize the scientific and practical findings in an understandable way. Ulrike Eidel contributed to the book as a (co-)editor and author. As an application-based addition to her teaching activities, she has, together with Tobias Preckel, developed an interdisciplinary course.
