Robert Nothhelfer is Professor of Business Administration at Pforzheim University. He began his professional career after graduating from high school at the St. Blasien College and serving in the German Armed Forces with an apprenticeship as a banker at Deutsche Bank in Freiburg. He then studied economics in Freiburg and Bonn from 1992 to 1997.
After his studies, he worked as an auditor for BDO Südwesttreuhand Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft mbH from 1997 until 2000 and received his doctorate on the subject of „Learning Processes in Organisations“. From 2001 to 2004 he worked for the corporate reporting department of Bertelsmann AG in Gütersloh. His main focus was the conversion of the consolidated financial statements to IFRS.
From 2004 to 2014 Robert Nothhelfer worked in various positions for the Schwarz Group in Neckarsulm, initially for the central holding company Schwarz Finanz- und Beteiligungs GmbH & Co. KG (today Schwarz Dienstleistung GmbH & Co. KG) where he was responsible for accounting and controlling. His main focus was on the conversion of the consolidated financial statements to IFRS and the extensive standardization of reporting processes. Robert Nothhelfer then joined the board of management at Lidl Germany, where he was responsible for the commercial areas and IT. Following the data protection scandal in 2008, he built up the data protection organization and was responsible for process changes. Between 2011 and 2014, he began to set up a compliance and risk management system for Lidl International. Robert Nothhelfer also works as a monitoring trustee in antitrust proceedings and is a partner in a consulting firm specializing in this area.

Robert Nothhelfer teaches and researches in the fields of finance and accounting, in particular in national and international financial reporting. He also deals with issues of compliance and corporate governance. In his function as a monitoring trustee, he advises and monitors companies which have to comply with commitments to antitrust authorities in the context of a merger.
