Commitment, networks, and new perspectives: Business Law alumnus Dominik Wölfle

Dominik Wölfle studied Business Law at Business School Pforzheim from March 2020 to September 2023. He then completed a master's degree in Creative Direction at the Faculty of Design at Pforzheim University from October 2023 to January 2025.

When Dominik Wölfle looks back on his studies at Business School Pforzheim, the first things that come to mind are not lecture halls or exams. Much more formative for him were the experiences he gained outside the lecture hall – in the AStA (student union), as a member of the student council, as a tutor, or as a student assistant at HEED. He says: "I am convinced that A good student is defined by how they use the time between lectures."

Early on, he sought opportunities to try new things and take on responsibility. Whether as chair of a university group during a previous degree program, on the AStA board in Pforzheim, or later as a contact person at the Design Factory, Dominik took advantage of the opportunities that came his way to develop personally. "Initiatives are a great opportunity to make friends beyond your own degree program, get to know other perspectives, and gain practical experience," he emphasizes.

It was precisely this openness to opportunities that led him to his next step: the master's program in Creative Direction. At first glance, the path from a bachelor's degree in business law to this program may not seem obvious – but for Dominik, it was the logical next step. "What fascinated me most about business law was the methodology: analyzing complex problems, developing structures, finding solutions. For my master's degree, I wanted to learn even more about working creatively and #interdisciplinarily, developing concepts that are timelessly applicable." The program offered him exactly that: project work in a team, new approaches, and the freedom to shape innovation in a practical way. The program was recommended to him, as was the position as a student assistant at HEED, by members of the AStA.

His career path illustrates how valuable it is to remain open, seize opportunities, and actively shape your time at university. Looking back, he says: "You shouldn't let yourself get too stressed about the standard period of study. An extra semester opens up new possibilities." And this freedom can open doors that you might never have discovered otherwise."

Dominik Wölfle's story shows how #personal studying at Pforzheim University can be – with plenty of room for exchange, which forms the foundation for #sustainably grown networks.
