“Randnotizen” Exhibition at the Jewelry Museum
Event 05/17/2026 17:00 - 01/06/2027 - Schmuckmuseum Pforzheim

In the foyer of the Reuchlinhaus, fashion by designer Monika Markert and photographs by Silke Helmerdig are on display under the title “Randnotizen.”
Fashion moves between aesthetics and functionality, tradition and modernity, life and experience. The exhibits feature recurring decorative, festive elements of traditional dress from various cultural circles, contrasted with contemporary accents. They combine accumulated life experiences with the perception of the visually ever-changing world in which we live.
Shapes and patterns from our everyday lives are taken up and reinterpreted in the exhibits. Only a section of the product is deliberately shown—a “textile note.” In this reduction, the power of the statement between modernity and tradition, between pragmatism and ornamentation, becomes apparent.
A dialogue emerges between the elements in the space, the photographs, and the architecture of the iconic exhibition venue. The exhibition is not intended to represent a completed process. It is through this processual nature that the further development of an idea becomes possible, all the way to a wearable garment.
“Randnotizen” accompanies the exhibition “Silver Lining,” which is on view concurrently at the Jewelry Museum and celebrates the world of silver with three sub-exhibitions: the 21st International Silver Triennial, “Cool Brilliance” featuring highlights from the Jewelry Museum’s collection of silver and diamonds, and “Afghanistan, Oman, or the Black Forest?” showcasing silver masterpieces from the Herion ethnographic collection.
