As part of the Children’s University at Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr. Margarita Bidler gave a special “lecture” last week: Under the title “How Data Turns Into Ice Cream,” the young participants took a playful dive into the world of consumer psychology.
Using clear examples, the children learned how companies figure out what consumers really want—and what role market research plays in this process. Afterward, the young researchers got hands-on: In a small survey on trendy ice cream flavors, they collected their own data, analyzed it, and discussed the results.
The clear conclusion of the Children’s University study: mango ice cream is all the rage. The event thus demonstrated in an entertaining way how numbers, opinions, and observations can be turned into valuable insights—and how research has a very concrete impact on our everyday lives.
