Interview with logistics alumnus Luca Kainhofer
News

Luca Kainhofer completed his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a focus on Purchasing, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management in 2023. After graduating, he joined Karlsruher SC GmbH & Co. KGaA as an E-Commerce Manager, and since March 2024, he has been working there as a Digital Sales Manager. He finds balance to his professional work in the soccer industry through other sports: golf and running marathons.
My best memory of Pforzheim University is definitely...
...the semester opening and closing parties.
What was particularly exciting about the degree program?
The practical focus, which was consistently emphasized throughout the program. Applying what you learned not only in theory, but also through practical case studies, greatly helps to absorb material.
What I enjoy most about my job as Digital Sales Manager at Karlsruher SC is...
...the variety of tasks. Working for a soccer club means facing new challenges every day that need to be overcome. I also enjoy taking on responsibility. This is part of my role, as I'm responsible for all online sales channels (ticketing, merchandising, membership, etc.). The young team and the sporting focus of the work are a particular draw for me. Furthermore, I see the direct impact of my work and can actively contribute to shaping the future of the organization/club.
What are – from your perspective – the most important milestones in your career path?
My self-employment alongside my studies, which ultimately paved the way for me to join Karlsruher SC. Generally speaking, I would consider experiences like practical semesters and working student positions to be very important. Only through these professional experiences does it become clear what you want in the future, or indeed, what you don't. I wouldn't want to have missed out on these experiences.
What always distracted you from studying?
Any sporting events made it difficult to put studying on the back burner. Bundesliga conferences or Champions League evenings made it hard for me to use the weekends or evenings effectively for studying.
