Interview with Business Informatics Alumnus Ralf Dukek

News

Ralf Dukek completed his degree in Business Administration / Business Informatics in 1999. After graduating, he moved to Munich to start his career, where he worked as an SAP consultant at KPMG (later BearingPoint). After holding various positions in the consulting sector, Ralf Dukek joined Deloitte Consulting, where he now works with colleagues to manage the SAP Finance division as well as large-scale transformation projects focused on SAP. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife in the mountains, which is why Munich is the ideal place for him to live.

In my current role, I benefit from my studies in…
… the exposure to SAP technology in the seminars and the COBOL course, which at the time was still a required course during the semester break. At the time, COBOL was still very similar to the programming language used in SAP and helped me better understand the system for clients and define solutions. In addition, there were many fundamentals, such as accounting and operations research, that have been very helpful in my day-to-day work over time.

A typical workday at Deloitte…
…is now filled with meetings and decisions—but above all with exciting discussions and challenges, finding solutions for which is still a lot of fun.

To be happy and content, I need…
…the mountains or the sea. That’s where I can clear my head and focus on the essentials, like family and my own health.

My favorite meal in the cafeteria back then was…
…currywurst

The best place to party and forget about stress during my college days was…
…the Seehaus.

I start my day with…
…a good cup of coffee.

My tip for students:
Always be clear about why you’re doing something. Then passion, authenticity, and success will follow naturally.
