Intercultural Communication Workshop with Barbara Sametinger
News
The MBA students at Pforzheim University had the privilege of attending an enlightening workshop on Intercultural Communication, led by the Barbara Sametinger. As the founder of Sametinger Business English and Cross-Cultural Training, Barbara brought over 20 years of experience in communication and leadership consulting to the session.
The workshop began with interactive exercises that highlighted the perceptional bias individuals often possess. Barbara demonstrated how culture influences the way we think and process information, and how this impacts our interactions with others. The students gained valuable insights into German culture and the cultural standards inherent within it.
Through practical, relevant, and thought-provoking case studies, Barbara provided the students with practical tips on how to approach cultural differences they might encounter in their professional and personal lives. One of the key takeaways was the importance of understanding one's own cultural compass to foster empathy and reduce judgment when dealing with others.
Barbara also emphasized the art of delivering constructive feedback, both positive and negative, by fostering a dialogue and dealing with situations rather than taking things personally. This approach, she explained, leads to progress and growth.
The students left the workshop feeling equipped with a deeper understanding of intercultural competence and how to learn from diversity to integrate within different cultures. Barbara's engaging and insightful session was a true eye-opener, leaving a lasting impact on everyone present.
Thank you, Barbara, for sharing your expertise and helping us navigate the complexities of intercultural communication!
