Neben den üblichen Auslandsaufenthalten über 1 Semester oder 1 Jahr gibt es auch die Möglichkeit von Kurzzeitaufenthalten. Man kann zum Beispiel über Sprachschulen seine Sprachkenntnisse erweitern oder an Summer bzw. Winter Schools von Universitäten teilnehmen. Viele Hochschule bieten Summer/ Winter Schools an, in deren Rahmen 1-3 Kurse (i.d.R. zwei Kurse) absolviert werden können. Die Kurse dauern zwischen 2 und 6 Wochen und finden meistens zwischen Juni und September bzw Januar / Februar statt. Je nach Programminhalt werden auch Fachkurse (im Sinne einer fachlichen Vertiefung) angeboten. Zahlreiche Kurse sind aber weniger eine fachliche Vertiefung, sondern eher eine Einführung in die Kultur und Geschichte des Landes. Faktisch ist das Spektrum von Kursangeboten und Teilnahmegebühren sehr breit.
Neben den Sommer/Winter-Programmen gibt es auch eine neuere Möglichkeit im Ausland zu studieren für kurze Zeit: BIP (Blended Intensive Programs).

Please note that in most cases courses taken online cannot be recognized in Pforzheim.
Sprachkurse werden sowohl von privaten Einrichtungen und Trägern, als auch von öffentllichen Einrichtungen (i.d.R. Hochschulen) angeboten. Die Qualität der Sprachkurse ist sehr unterschiedlich. Ein eher gute Sprachschule erkennt man u.a. an folgenden Merkmalen:
a) die Kursteilnahme ist von einem Einstufungstest abhängig
b) die Sprachschule bietet mehrere Niveaustufen parallell an
c) die Sprachschule legt offen wie viele Teilnehmer aus welchen Ländern an den Kursen teilnehmen und schafft eine eher heterogene Lernumgebung
d) die Sprachschule weist nach, dass die Lehrkräfte qualifiziert sind und über längere Zeit dauerhaft an der Sprachschule unterrichten

Blended Intensive Program (kurz BIP genannt) sind kurze Studienaufenthalte im europäischen Ausland, die im Rahmen von mehreren Hochschulen gemeinsam geplanten Veranstaltungen angeboten werden. Innerhalb dieses Programms können Sie für 1-2 Woche an einer ausländischen Hochschule studieren. Neben dem physischen Aufenthalt gibt es auch mind. 1 Tag virtuelle Vorlesungen/Vorbereitungen. Die Kurse im Umfang von mind. 3 ECTS können zudem ggf. angerechnet werden.
Förderung
Kurzzeitaufenthalte innerhalb der Europäischen Union (Erasmus-Programmländer) können bei ausreichendem Budget mit Erasmus gefördert werden. Die Bewerbung erfolgt wie bei längeren Aufenthalten über unseren Kooperationpartner KOOR. Alle weiteren Information wie die Förderhöhe dazu erhalten Sie hier.

The candidates are selected by the academic coordinators of each Trento School.
Fees and Scholarships
Students from partner universities are granted a fee waiver.
If you participate in the framework of the Erasmus+ K131 Programme or the ICM K171 Programme, you can also apply for a scholarship for short-term mobility.
The participants must cover their own expenses for:
- meals: approximately between 6 and 9 euros in the university canteen, 15-30 euros at a café or restaurant, less if you cook by yourself or with others;
- accommodation: approximately 35 euros/day in shared accommodation, tips to find a place to stay will be sent to prospective participants;
- travel costs;
- transportation expenses once you arrive at UniTrento and the surrounding area, unless you get a Trentino Guest Card from your host;
- visa and health insurance (non-EU citizens).

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Deadline: 24 June 2025
Step 1: Before applying, students should send to intsummschool.feb(at)um(dot)si
– A signed confirmation from their home institution that it will allow them to apply for an ERASMUS+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) scholarship if their application for the summer school is successful.
– Short CV (up to 1 page)
– Short motivation letter (up to 150 words)
– Claim for Establishing a Unique Personal Number (EMŠO)

Step 3: Accepted students will receive confirmation of their acceptance (Acceptance Letters) and pre-completed Learning Agreement by 30 June 2025.
NOTE: After the summer school, students will receive certificates of attendance. This Summer School is a one-week intensive program, so students will not receive grades.
FINANCIAL ASPECTS
There is no tuition fee.
Students cover the travel and accommodation costs from the ERASMUS+ BIP grant.
The University of Maribor covers the costs of at least one meal a day and the expenses of attending social events within the International Summer School Programme.
The University of Maribor will accommodate students in twin rooms in the student dormitories of the University of Maribor (presumably in Dorm 3, Tyrševa ulica 30, 2000 Maribor, https://sd.um.si/portal/index.php/nasi-domovi?id=122). Students will pay the cost of their accommodation during their stay in Maribor (110 EUR for the entire week).

The aim of this BIP is to provide undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students from European universities with a comprehensive introduction to the basic principles and concepts of structural health monitoring in various engineering structures.
In addition, participants will have the unique opportunity to attend the lectures and workshops of the IMST 2025 Conference – International Conference on Innovative Materials, Structures, and Technologies, as well as students will participate in a group project where they will jointly develop and present a project related to structural health monitoring.
The programme combines an online activity and a one-week physical activity, taking place in Riga, Latvia:

INSPER, Brazil: São Paulo School of Advanced Science in Systems Change and Sustainability (full scholarship included)
This immersive ten-day program (December 8 to 17, 2025) is supported by Fapesp (Brazil Research Foundation) through its São Paulo School of Advanced Science initiative. It brings together an international cohort of students and researchers committed to developing transformative solutions for sustainability and systemic change.
The program is open to:

- Master’s and PhD students
- Early-career postdoctoral researchers
Participation is free of charge. Selected candidates will receive full scholarships covering travel, accommodation, and meals for the entire duration of the program.
