Please find below a collection of the most important information regarding the first steps on campus in order to make the start of your studies as smooth as possible.
There are obligatory events for first-semester students (Bachelor) such as preliminary courses at the School of Engineering and the SIK program at the Business School, which always take place before the regular start of lectures (see "Important dates").
As a student at our university, you have access to a range of IT services during your studies once you have been authenticated. Your university account is used for this authentication. After successful enrollment, your user data will be sent to the private e-mail address you provided when you applied. Please ensure that your mailbox is not full.
Pforzheim University issues a multifunctional chip card as a student ID to all students during the introductory events or at the start of lectures. All applications are integrated into this card. You do not need an additional card for the cafeteria, access system etc. Your student ID card can be used as follows:
- Student ID card
- Library card (when first used, the library's rules and regulations are automatically recognized by you)
- StudiTicket for bus and train
- Registration at multifunctional devices (printer, photocopier)
- Electronic wallet for our cafeteria
- Access system for buildings and rooms
You will receive your ID card during the introductory events or at the start of your lectures.
The chip card is your property and is going to stay with you throughout the duration of your studies.
Student ID card as a ticket for public transportation (StudiTicket)
All students at Pforzheim University may travel by bus and local train in Pforzheim and the surrounding area without paying extra. Upon enrollment and payment of a flat-rate public transportation fee as part of the student union fee, the Pforzheim University student ID card is valid as a travel pass (StudiTicket). The StudiTicket is personal and non-transferable.
In the winter semester, the StudiTicket is valid from 1 September to 28 or 29 February, in the summer semester from 1 March to 31 August.
Until you receive your student ID card, you can use the StudiTicket to travel to and from the university.
Detailed information on the StudiTicket can also be found on the website of the General Students' Committee (AStA) of Pforzheim University.
Our IT services also include the online printout of enrollment certifications (proof of enrollment). That way you may print out the required number of enrollment certifcations yourself.
The enrollment certifications contains information according to § 9 BAföG. Therefore, we do not manually confirm the corresponding form for the BAföG application.
The application for credit transfer must be submitted once with a cut-off period of six weeks after the start of the semester.
Please find more information here: FAQ examination questions.
Once you have successfully enrolled, you may use your user ID in order to log into our E-Campus.
There, you will find more useful and important information regarding your studies. Please read the information on the mandatory events for first-semester students carefully, as some of them may take place before the regular start of lectures (go to “Starting your studies” and "Studies, Study organization").
