Smart Systems are a key factor for the future competitiveness of European industry. Based on the networking of devices and services the Internet of Things facilitates horizontal and vertical integration along the entire value chain. New innovative products will be created by smart systems which are involved in the real world and Cyber-Physical Systems will emerge (CPS). This results in completely new areas of business which connect businesses with industries. However, the technical requirements for industrial use are still lacking, in particular comprehensive standards and process models.
Our Institute carries out intensive research in these innovative fields at all relevant levels. We support companies and service providers with our expertise to offer new solutions. The objective is to transfer these solutions to the various industrial fields, so that they can benefit from Smart Systems and Services on a long-term basis. In the long term, medium-sized enterprises are expected to switch to new industrial 4.0 technologies and to drive the integration of various IT systems.
