Andreas Willburger‘s research is important given the German economy’s reliance on exports, which has increased and the economic boom in BRICS countries. The question that more and more businesses ask themselves is which national laws should apply to international contracts. Companies‘ attempts to enforce their own national laws often fails when general terms and conditions apply.
In the area of international private law, Andreas Willburger studies whether the application of national laws makes sense in all contexts, and if not, which laws should be applied instead, and whether the use of a balanced international regulatory model like the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods is advisable.
In the area of European and international law governing the sale of goods, Andreas Willburger studies the problems that result from competing national, European and international regulatory models. In international commerce, purchase agreements prevail, though the importance of license agreements should not be ignored. In addition to sale of goods law, Andreas Willburger also deals with questions relating to distribution law.
