Kerstin Bremser ist seit 2008 Professorin für International Business mit dem Schwerpunkt spanischsprachige Länder an der Hochschule Pforzheim. Von 2012 bis 2020 leitete sie den Bachelorstudiengang International Business. 2021 übernahm sie die wissenschaftliche Leitung des Akademischen Auslandsamts. Nach ihrem Studium des Europäischen Managements an der Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg begann sie ihre Karriere 1998 bei McKinsey & Company in Frankfurt im Bereich der strategischen Unternehmensberatung. Im Jahr 2000 wechselte sie zur internen Unternehmensberatung der Degussa AG, Frankfurt. Gleichzeitig begann sie ihr Promotionsstudium an der Universität St. Gallen (HSG), Schweiz. Sie promovierte zum Thema „Einfluss des Mercosur auf die chemische Industrie im Jahr 2004“. Bereits im September 2003 zog es sie auch beruflich in die Schweiz, zur Polypag AG, einem mittelständischen Hersteller von Bauchemikalien. Hier begann sie ihre Tätigkeit als Key Account Managerin für den spanischen Sprachraum, stieg jedoch bald zur stellvertretenden Vertriebsleiterin auf. Seit ihrem Ruf an die Hochschule Pforzheim befasst sich Kerstin Bremser im Rahmen von Forschung und Lehre mit strategischen Fragestellungen der Tourismusindustrie und kulturellen Unterschieden zwischen Europa und Südamerika. Sie ist regelmäßig Gastdozentin an verschiedenen spanischsprachigen Universitäten (Universidad Autónoma, Madrid, Spanien; Universidad da Coruna, Spanien; Universidad del Pacífico, Lima, Peru). Kerstin Bremser spricht fließend Deutsch, Englisch, Spanisch und Französisch und verfügt über erweiterte Kenntnisse der portugiesischen Sprache.
Kerstin Bremser publiziert regelmäßig in internationalen Teams in hochrangigen Journals im Bereich des Tourismus, z. B. im International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Services Industries oder Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Management für die sie auch als Reviewer tätig ist. 2016 wurde sie mit dem Emerald Literati Best Paper Award ausgezeichnet. Von 2017 bis 2018 war sie Mitglied des Intertalentum Scientific Advisory Board der UAM, Madrid, Spanien zur Auswahl von Marie-Curie Promotionsprojekten im Bereich der Sozialwissenschaften.

Kerstin Bremser befasst sich in internationalen Teams mit strategischen Fragestellungen im Bereich der Tourismusindustrie. Hier forscht sie zum Bereich des Krisenmanagements im Rahmen von Wirtschafts- und Gesundheitskrisen. Sie begann ihre Arbeit mit Fragestellungen zur Finanzkrise von 2008, die Spanien hart getroffen und das Ausgabeverhalten der Menschen verändert hat. Tourismus ist einer der wichtigsten Wirtschaftssektoren Spaniens. Vielfältige Forschungsergebnisse haben gezeigt, dass Krisenmanagement essenziell für Unternehmen ist. Dabei ist es unabdingbar, dass sich Unternehmen auch auf seltenere Krisen (Naturkatastrophen, Epidemien, Terroranschläge, Wirtschaftskrisen) einstellen und vorbereiten, um erfolgreich weiterbestehen zu können. In ihren Arbeiten untersucht Kerstin Bremser wie sich spanische Unternehmen auf die Wirtschaftskrise einstellten und welche Strategien erfolgversprechend sind.
Ein neuer Schwerpunkt ihrer Forschungen liegt im Bereich der Gesundheitsrisiken (SARS, Covid-19, giftige Quallen) und deren Auswirkungen auf die betroffenen Tourismusregionen sowie das Reiseverhalten unterschiedlicher Touristen. Zusätzlich beschäftigt sich Kerstin Bremser intensiv mit anderen Erscheinungsformen des Tourismus wie z. B. Overtourism bzw. nachhaltigen Formen des Reisens wie die Buchungsplattform Airbnb. Ein weiteres Kompetenzfeld sind interkulturelle Studien, hier insbesondere die Unterschiede zwischen spanischsprachigen Ländern Südamerikas und Europa.
