All registered users have the opportunity to borrow media.

University members can borrow physical items from the →self-checkout kiosk.

External users can only borrow media at the service desk.

In the Library Design there are two compter workstations and two computer for catalogue research.

In the Library Engineering, Business and Law there are no computer workstations. Three computers for catalogue research are available to all users in front of the service desk.

The items in the university library belong to the general public! To ensure that all our users can enjoy using well-preserved items, library materials must be handled responsibly and with care.

Please check the desired item for damage before borrowing it and report this to the service desk if necessary. This will help you to avoid unwanted costs if we need to replace items

The University Library offers all registered users free access to numerous databases from differnet subject areas.

The Library Statutes of Pforzheim University consist of two parts, the Terms and Conditions and the Statutes of Fees. The Terms and Conditions regulate the tasks of the University Library as well as the rights and obligations of users. The Terms and Conditions regulates, among other things, opening hours, admission to use, lending modalities, etc.
The Statutes of Fees regulate the amount and conditions of fees charged for certain services within the university library, such as late fees, interlibrary loan fees, replacement purchases, etc.

By entering the rooms of the University Library or using its online services, users recognise the Library Statutes (§ 3, para. 1 Terms and Conditions).

On this page you will find announcements and news from the University Library. Short-term changes to opening hours and service restrictions will be announced here.

Teaching staff, researchers and employees of Pforzheim University can send their literature requests to the university library by e-mail to bibliothek@hs-pforzheim.de (Technology, Business & Law Library) or gestaltung.bibliothek@hs-pforzheim.de (Design Library). The library team will check the information you provide and give you prompt feedback. Once the order has been received and processed, you will receive an ->automatic notification or a link to the desired e-resource.
Students of the HS PF must discuss their literature requests with the contact person of the relevant faculty.

Note: Delivery times vary greatly depending on the publisher, supplier or country of origin of the goods, but are rarely less than 7 working days.

Students of Pforzheim University are automatically registered with the university library. For them, the student ID card also serves as →library card.
Professors and staff must register at the ->service desk on their first visit. The university ID card serves as a →reading card.

All user groups have access to their own →user account.

Students at Pforzheim University are required to submit their final thesis. These are collected in the university library. The theses can be found in our catalogue.

  • Printed theses cannot be found in the freely accessible library and must be ordered via the catalogue.
    Faculty of Design: The theses cannot be borrowed and can only be viewed in the library.
    Faculty of Engineering, Business and Law: Theses can be borrowed for 7 calendar days. An renewal is not allowed.
     
  • Electronic theses can be sent to you as a PDF file via e-mail. To do this, you must order the desired thesis via the catalogue.

Every registered user has access to their own user account. The account makes it possible to view the loan periods of borrowed media and to renew them if necessary. Existing reservations are listed and can be deleted if they are no longer required. Notifications can be called up as well as the current account fee status.

To log in to your user account, you will need your Library Card ID-number and password. The ID number looks like this:

  • Students: three zeros + matriculation number + one zero (example: 0002928270)
  • Teaching staff and employees: the ten-digit number on your university ID card (example: 0000001110)
  • External users: capital G followed by the nine-digit number of your library ID number (example G123456789)

If you did not actively change your password when you first logged in, the default password (date of birth in the form DD.MM.YYYY) will continue to apply.

Important: For security reasons, it is strongly recommended that you change the default password after logging in for the first time.
