Guest in Classroom # 2: Lydia Michael, founder of Blended Collective on Brand Love, Culture, and Career Purpose

News

Hochschule Pforzheim recently had the honor of hosting Lydia Michael, owner of Blended Collective, award-winning entrepreneur, speaker, and author of “Brand Love – Building Strong Consumer-Brand Connections,” as the second guest in classroom. As a proud alumna of the Pforzheim MBA program, Lydia returned to share her professional journey, insights on emotional branding, and her philosophy of finding purpose through Ikigai.
Lydia’s career path, as she described it, has been anything but straightforward. After completing her bachelor’s degree at Wayne State University, she began working in the entertainment and music industry. She managed international marketing and operations for Grammy-winning artists. Based on her desire to see the world from a broader, cross-cultural view, she pursued her MBA at Pforzheim University, where she developed the foundation for her passion for multicultural marketing. Her internship and master thesis work at L’Oréal in Düsseldorf introduced her to the concept of Brand Love—the emotional bond between people and brands—which later became the cornerstone of her profession and her book.
After several years of work experience, Lydia founded Blended Collective in 2017, a marketing and brand consultancy with a focus on emotion. Through clever networking, hard work, persistence, and a unique vision, she established herself as a recognized thought leader in marketing and brand building.
During her talk, Lydia used the Japanese idea of „Ikigai“, or discovering one's "reason for being," to encourage students to connect their passion, purpose, and career. She encouraged future leaders to build genuine personal brands and careers that align with their values.
After the session, MBA students had a better understanding of how culture and emotion shape connections that matter, both in business and in everyday life. Hochschule Pforzheim would like to express its gratitude to Lydia for sharing her experience, insight, and passion with our MBA community.
