Howard Sutton studied engineering and business at the Universities of Surrey and Warwick, where he earned a B.Sc., MBA and Ph.D. He began his professional career with BP in London and subsequently moved to Germany, where he worked for a number of management consultancies. During this time he was involved in many projects for both large and medium sized companies concerning both strategic and operational issues.
After 14 years in industry he joined the University of Applied Sciences in Pforzheim as Professor of General and Strategic Management. He has also been visiting Professor at ESC Dijon and IFI Rouen (France).

Howard Sutton’s considerable experience as an industry practitioner and consultant has fuelled his interest and talent for applied research. He seeks to build connections between theory and practice. At present his main areas of interest are the influence of sustainable development on strategy formulation and implementation as well as on international business systems.
