News

Pforzheim, September 25, 2025 - The successful and long-standing cooperation between Pforzheim University and Fritz-Erler-Schule was strengthened once again with a practice-oriented event. On September 25, 2025, pupils from Fritz-Erler-Schule visited the university campus to take part in an interactive workshop on process mining - a forward-looking topic in business informatics.
Digitalization meets education: practical insights into business informatics
The event is part of the ongoing collaboration between the two educational institutions. The aim of the cooperation is to get pupils interested in digitalization, business informatics and technological innovations at an early stage. At the same time, the participants gain a realistic insight into university life and possible study prospects in Pforzheim.
The event kicked off with Prof. Dr. Peter Weiß, who presented the Business Informatics course. He showed the young people the exciting career opportunities offered by this dynamic field and how interdisciplinary skills in business, IT and management are in demand. During the lunch break that followed, the participants were able to explore the campus and experience the student environment at first hand.
Process mining - transparency and efficiency for business processes
From 12:30 pm, Prof. Dr. Frank Morelli took over with his presentation "Process Mining - a game changer for the management of business processes". He vividly demonstrated how companies can use modern analysis tools to make their internal processes visible and optimize them efficiently. Process mining is considered a key technology for digital transformation and is a central component of modern business informatics.
A particular highlight of the day was the interactive exercise "Pizzeria Mamma Mia". Here, the students themselves took on the role of process analysts and examined a realistic scenario - in a playful, practical way and with a direct link to the knowledge previously imparted. This turned theory into tangible experience.
Educational partnership with a future
The event ended at 3 p.m. - with many new impressions, exciting impulses and increased motivation on both sides.
The cooperation between Pforzheim University and Fritz-Erler-Schule impressively demonstrates how effectively school and academic education can go hand in hand. The regular exchange not only promotes interest in technical and economic topics, but also facilitates the transition from school to university.
