Presentation of first results from the project InReff
From 18th-20th June the 21st CIRP Conference on "Life Cycle Engineering" at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway took place. This year's theme of the annual international conference was "Life cycle engineering to save energy". The conference is organized by the working group "Life Cycle Engineering and Assembly" of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP).
During the three-day conference more than 90 scientists and engineers from around the world presented their current research on topics such as remanufacturing, Sustainable Design, Energy Production, Manufacturing Processes and Life Cycle Analysis.
From INEC two representatives participated in the conference and presented their latest results from the project InReff (Integrated resource efficiency analyzes to reduce air pollution in the chemical industry). Eve Zschieschang introduced the methodological principles of simulation-based optimization of coupled simulation models for the chemical industry. The overall project and the software technical solutions developed for this optimization were presented by Prof. Tobias Viere.
After exciting scientific lectures and discussions there was also the opportunity to participate in various social events. In addition to a very successful dinner accompanied by Norwegian brass band music in the Lian restaurant a visit to the "Leirfossene" hydroelectric power plant was an absolute highlight. The water power plant, which is in operation since 2008, is one of the most modern in Norway.
