Let´s build a smarter planet

In the framework of the Centennial Lecture at Pforzheim University our guest lecturer, Mr. Matthias Dietel, Manager Technical Sales WebSphere IBM Software Group Germany, described tremendous technological changes that occurred due to innovations and technical solutions in the company. Moreover, it was an occasion to think in creative terms about the future. The review was basis for discussions about worldwide developments in the coming decades and how modern technology can support these.
IBM wants to push forward the idea how it can help to make the world better and more efficient in many aspects. Today`s world is not “smart” enough, that`s for sure. The “Smart Planet” can be achieved by intelligent development of systems based on modern IT-technology.

Impulses 11 – The Alumni-Event

More than 300 graduates of Pforzheim Business School came together on Saturday, 14th of May, for the second Alumni Meeting „Impulses 11“on the campus of Pforzheim University. Before the official opening former students and their professors already had the possibility to meet for the first time since many years. Keeping contacts, building-up networks, offering professional perspectives and ideas from the professional world – for both professors and graduates the meeting offered a lot of new impulses. The ceremonial lecture was held by the management trainer and businessman Boris Grundl. The former competitive athlete, who has been in a wheelchair since an accident, inspires his listeners. Grundl shows vividly that leadership cannot be successful without inspiration and the skill to lead the own personality. Boris Grundl made a shooting star career as executive manager. Today he is an expert in managerial leadership and a charismatic convention speaker and belongs to Europe`s training elite. Grundl made an argument for apparently elemental issues in order to push forward the development of the own personality. “What is the good in it or what the right to exist is” – these questions should not be avoided; to pick one impulse and to pursue it emphatically, with this advice Boris Grundl sent the listeners on their way. After lunch the alumni had the possibility to participate in 16 workshops and lectures: Qi-management, elocution, reading faces or a management seminar with hawks and eagles – it was a very fascinating and diverse afternoon for all guests.
