Overview
1. Genesis of the program
The program was launched in 2001 as MBA in International Consulting (MBA-IC), developed as a specific MBA program with a focus on consulting competence - including both, internal and external consulting (in-house consulting and consulting companies).
In autumn 2005 the program was relaunched as MBA in Human Resources Management & Consulting (MBA-HRM&C). Since the fifth generation of students in HRM&C started in 2009, we experience in total nine generations of students within the continuous improvement process of the program.
2. Profile of the program
Thus, MBA-HRM&C represents not the general management approach to Business Administration of MBA programs (1) but it is designed at developing specific competencies for Consulting and HRM tasks in respective professional fields. On the other hand, consulting competence reflects a general managerial ability for developing companies in a global world. The special profile of the MBA study program has resulted from the combination of Human Resources Management know-how and advisory skills. The focus has been placed on the strategic dimension of Human Resources Management (HRM). Course contents include company HRM, international personnel management and strategic aspects of personnel and company development. The secondary focus is on consultancy, organization development, international consulting as well as work-related applications and instruments of consulting. The development of consultation expertise for strategy-oriented HR managers and consultants is a key element in the study program.
3. Mission of the program
The study program enables current and future Human Resources Manager and Consultants to act as business partner of the Top Management. In this context, consulting competence represents a link between strategic HRM and context-specific consulting tasks. Consulting competence essentially includes international and cross-cultural aspects. The development of social and methodological skills represents a core element to prepare students for acting successfully in various professional fields.
Our mission follows the motto: Business is people – people is business.“Business is people” reflects the tradition and core-values of organizational development: people orientation and social responsibility. “People is business” refers to the necessary economically oriented professionalization of Human Resources Management under aspects of company success (human capital).
4. Duration and Language
Duration: 3 semesters; in the first two semesters lectures are held from Thursday till Saturday. Therefore working in a job from Monday till Wednesday is possible.
Language of Instruction: predominantly German, some lectures may be held in English
Program Start: each winter semester (in October)
Tuition Fees: €8,900 in total plus €110 (per semester) for student union and administration costs.
5. Labor Market
The program provides an international qualification in the fields of strategically aligned Human Resources Management and Consulting. Fields of occupation include HR-Manager or HR-Developer as business partner of the company management, in-house consultant or external consultant. External consultants may found own consulting companies or are employed by consulting companies.
