Purchasing and Logistics - Career Fields
Career Profile and Job Opportunities
In comparison with other business fields, career opportunities in purchasing and logistics are excellent. Two thirds of our graduates have already found employment by the time of their final oral Bachelor examinations. Therefore purchasing and logistics is an industry of the future.
Our graduates find themselves in various positions all along the supply chain- in companies as well as in industry, trade, service and consulting.
Typical work areas include:
The term “Supply Chain Manager” reflects the profile of the purchasing and logistics program. Students learn about the optimization of the value added chain from the supplier to the end consumer.

The supply chain manager is faced with the dilemma of “how to keep stock down to a minimum along the chain while providing the client with maximum service”. The supply chain manager is seen as the “director of the commodity flow”. This is illustrated in the study program’s double major of “purchasing” and “logistics”. The students are given a solid business basis, introduced to “Supply Management” and “Distribution Logistics” and are imparted with an integrated approach to process design and optimization in “Logistical Process Management”. Process management involves the movement of goods, the building up of partner relationships, the illustration of information streams in IT and financial transactions involved in business controlling. Students acquire an all-round education with a strong emphasis on organization, presentation and integration skills.
