Course Specific Modules
The rest of the time will be taken up with course specific modules.
These modules begin in the 2nd semester. They comprise compulsory and optional courses. Students will be able to choose whether to specialize in process optimization using transaction systems or analysis, planning and knowledge management systems in their 6th semester. Similarly there is an option in the 7th semester. Students can decide whether to take multimedia application systems or distributed application systems.
Students acquire technical, method, applications and social skills. The interaction between these various skills provides the basis for a successful future career. As well as the general, broad business education students acquire skills in their second study phase for example: to understand, analyse and configure complex business processes in companies; to understand functional principles and the potential of information and communication technology to optimize company business processes; to conceive and implement computer applications using suitable methods and instruments; to design information systems architecture (for example client/server architecture) and communications architecture (for example internet, intranet); to conceive and develop computer programs; to select, install and introduce standard software (for example SAP R/3); to work on problems in teams and solve them using suitable methods.
Subject Areas
Here are the primary modules during the 2nd study phase:
- Mode of operation, components and application of computer networks, operating systems and databases
- Object-oriented programming (currently in Java)
- Methods of configuration of information systems with project management, system development and business process management
- Business applications with integrated application systems (eg SAP R/3), groupware systems, multimedia and distributed applications
- Project work in the field of organization and information systems as well as multimedia and communication.
Interdisciplinary collaboration and team work will be conducted through project classes and also in cooperation with companies.
