The International Study Program (ISP)

Information for Incoming / Exchange Students

The ISP at a Glance

The ISP is an integrated course platform, provided by the Pforzheim University’s Business School, offering courses

  • for exchange students from partner universities and
  • for students enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program at Pforzheim University’s Business School who are interested in taking courses taught in English.

Certficate / Diploma

Incoming students to the School of Business are automatically enrolled in the ISP. Along with the transcript, Pforzheim University offers two non-degree certificates:

  1. The “Certificate International Management”: issued to
students who successfully complete courses with a total workload of 30 ECTS credits.
  2. The “Diploma International Management”: for students
earning 60 ECTS credits within two semesters. Students may achieve the required number of credits:
    • by successfully passing courses with a total workload of 60 ECTS credits, or
    • by combining successfully completed courses with a total workload of 30 ECTS credits from the first semester of study, with an one-semester internship completed in the second semester.

Minimum and Maximum Course Workload

Minimum Workload

ISP expects exchange students to register for courses totaling a minimum of 24 ECTS credits.

Maximum Workload

  • The ISP recommends a registration of courses which corresponds to a standard European
semester workload of 30 ECTS credits.
  • We will accept an additional workload of 20%, translating to a maximum of 36 ECTS
    credits per semester.
  • Credits of presemester courses in German as a foreign language courses can be added to
    the maximum workload.

Specializations

As an additional service the ISP provides optional packaged course offers in English language in the form of "Specializations" with respect to specific subjects. Due to the range of courses offered, the timetable will not allow students to attend allcourses they wish. Up to four courses will be held at the same time.

We guarantee that students enrolled in a specialization will have the opportunity to attend the compulsory courses in the respective concentrations without any timetable clashes. Please note that some lectures, especially seminars and projects are restricted to participants in the relevant concentration. Courses offered only in the summer semester normally require prerequisites equivalent to the contents of courses offered in the first semester (winter semester) of the respective concentration.
