MBA-IM: Visit at Pforzheim's hidden champion Kramski
Getting to know specialized world market leaders and hidden champions from the region is an important part of the MBA program.
Another company visit of this kind was at Kramski, a privately owned enterprise located in Pforzheim. The founder Wiestaw Kramski and his son Andreas Kramski presented their company to the MBA students of the 1st and 3rd semester including many interesting and humorous anecdotes from the early days and about intercultural misunderstandings.
In a factory tour the students got an insight into the production of micro parts made from metal and plastic and got to "see" how much a Micron is (0,001 mm).
Kramski GmbH was founded in 1978 as a tool-manufacturing company in Germany for the production of high-performance stamping dies. They develop and produce complex stampings, moldings and sub assemblies for the leading suppliers in the automotive, electronics, telecommunications, solar and medical industries.

Kramski has subsidiaries in India, Sri Lanka and in the USA. In Florida, they produce putters for Golf players. Why is that? Wiestaw Kramski decided to design a putter for himself after being frustrated with the poor quality of what was available on the market. Since then putters are produced for top golfers all over the world.
Moreover, the company sponsors the School of Engineering with an endowed professorship in stamping.
