Pforzheim "Internationals" visited Berlin

Exchange students at Pforzheim University visited Berlin at the beginning of the summer semester 2011 on the invitation of Gunther Krichbaum, a member of the German ‘Bundestag’ (Parliament).

33 students from 14 nations together with Henriette Wilhelm and Jochen Ebert, both coordinators in the International Study Program (ISP), went on a 3-day tour right to the centre of German democracy.

There was a broad diversity of languages and nationalities on the Baden-Württemberg state representatives’ visit to Berlin. The foreign students came from as far as Colombia, France, China, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, South Korea, Latvia, Mexico, Peru, Russia, Turkey, USA.

The ISP at Pforzheim University coordinates and supervises the students from Pforzheim’s partner universities during their study abroad semester.

The excursion to the capital Berlin was a welcome practical object lesson for our guest student group. They were able to actively gain an insight into the constitution and development of German democracy through their visits to the chancellery and a eyewitness tour through the Berlin-Hohenschönhausen memorial, the main remand prison for people detained by the former East German Ministry of State Security (MfS), or 'Stasi'.

A guided bus tour under political aspects rounded the visit out.
